Aston Villa and Argentina National Team goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez is the most recent soccer player that entered the metaverse and is now depicted in MetaSoccer as a playable NFT character.

At MetaSoccer, players are bred in the metaverse and are discovered by Youth Scouts, through the scouting process. Exception goes to real-life players that agree to have their image licensed, and are then introduced to the soccer metaverse as a digital asset. These assets can be bought, sold, transferred and can play on any team, in any league.

Arsenal’s midfielder Thomas Partey was the first player to join MetaSoccer, and now his colleague from the English Premier League, Emiliano Martínez followed suit — and many more internationally renowned players are lining up to join MetaSoccer’s ranks, one of them being a Ballon D’Or and World Cup winner that is going to be presented soon.

The 29-year-old goalkeeper revealed himself to be more than happy to be portrayed as an NFT in the metaverse, in a game that combines two of his biggest passions: soccer and gaming.

As for Marc Cercós, CEO and co-founder of MetaSoccer, having more real-life players to become NFTs “is a key step of our strategy. By bringing soccer superstars to the metaverse we can reach a much broader audience of soccer fans who are starting to realize that the future of soccer is in the digital world. For us, it’s also important that MetaSoccer associates and collaborates with the best in each of the industries we are tied to, and it’s an honor and privilege to have all these players and clubs interested in the project,” finalizes Cercós.
