Scouting: Specific Roles Explained

MetaSoccer is the first soccer game in the metaverse that introduces breeding. Because the Scouting process will be live this week, Players will be discovered and minted to the metaverse, allowing you to start creating your team.

Today we’ll take a deeper look into the Specific Roles of the newly found Players. Here’s what you can expect:

There will be players with 17 Specific Roles. These Specific Roles will be the players’ primary positions, while some with more versatile profiles will be able to perform well in several positions.

Specific Roles are grouped in four different roles:

Goalkeeper Role

Defender Role

Midfielder Role

Forward Role

Players found by Scouts will have the same Role, ensuring that all those Players have optimized and higher attributes from the Scouts’ Knowledge.

Depending on the Role of the Scout, and who is doing the Scouting, the probabilities of finding one specific Role or another will change. However, there are two main restrictions to be aware of:

Given the fact that all Scouts will find Players within the same Role as their own, Scouting Experts will then have a higher probability of finding Players with special abilities.

To help you understand the algorithm behind the Scouting process, you can think about it split into two steps:

After many different simulations, we found this way the Player is best optimized. We want the Player to be dependent on the Scout Knowledge, but at the same time we want you to be able to discover Players for all the Specific Roles. Finding Players from different Roles would not be optimal for users.

Players will have potential abilities (maximum values for each ability) and also current abilities (values at a specific period of time). Initial current values when the Player is found will be highly linked to the specific Role. An RW, for example, can have dribbling as his best ability, and a ST usually will be better in finishing than in dribbling.

The main issue could be that a user can think that more Scoutings will be needed to fill a whole squad. However, although it is true, as we already shared last week, the marketplace will be the perfect place to do transfers and trade Players.

Although users will decide which are the most valued Specific Roles, we tried to balance the output depending on common team formations. For example, a team will need, at the least, to have half of the defenders as CBs, because if a team plays with 3 defenders, usually all would be CBs. If a team plays with 4 defenders, 2 will be CBs, and if a team plays with 5 defenders, 3 will be CBs. There are few teams that play with 3 defenders and only 1 CB.

There will be no impact; Scouting probabilities will depend only on Scout Role and Specific Roles.

The way to implement Specific Roles, as explained above, is the optimal path for users to get the most valuable team possible.

Over the next few days, we’ll share more details about the Scouting process, so you’ll be ready to start building your team!
