Scouting: Specific Roles Explained

MetaSoccer is the first soccer game in the metaverse that introduces breeding. Because the Scouting process will be live this week, Players will be discovered and minted to the metaverse, allowing you to start creating your team.

Today we’ll take a deeper look into the Specific Roles of the newly found Players. Here’s what you can expect:

There will be players with 17 Specific Roles. These Specific Roles will be the players’ primary positions, while some with more versatile profiles will be able to perform well in several positions.

Specific Roles are grouped in four different roles:

Goalkeeper Role

  • Specific Role = Goalkeeper (GK)

Defender Role

  • Specific Role = Right Wing-Back (RWB)
  • Specific Role = Right Back (RB)
  • Specific Role = Center Back (CB)
  • Specific Role = Left Back (LB)
  • Specific Role = Left Wing-Back (LWB)

Midfielder Role

  • Specific Role = Central Defensive Midfielder (CDM)
  • Specific Role = Center Midfielder (CM)
  • Specific Role = Right Midfielder (RM)
  • Specific Role = Left Midfielder (LM)
  • Specific Role = Central Attacking Midfielder (CAM)

Forward Role

  • Specific Role = Right Winger (RW)
  • Specific Role = Left Winger (LW)
  • Specific Role = Right Forward (RF)
  • Specific Role = Center Forward (CF)
  • Specific Role = Left Forward (LF)
  • Specific Role = Striker (ST)

Players found by Scouts will have the same Role, ensuring that all those Players have optimized and higher attributes from the Scouts’ Knowledge.

Depending on the Role of the Scout, and who is doing the Scouting, the probabilities of finding one specific Role or another will change. However, there are two main restrictions to be aware of:

  • If the Scout has any specific Role, there will be a 100% probability that at least one player from Scouting will have the same specific Role. So, if the Scout has a Defender Role and Center Back Specific Role, at least one player from Scouting will be a Center Back. As a result, a Scouting from that Scout with Overall Knowledge from 90 to 99, which only returns one player, will be a Center Back.
  • All the Players from Scouting will have the same Role as the Scout’s Role. A Scout with a Defender Role and Center Back Specific Role, for example, will only find defenders in the Scouting process.

Given the fact that all Scouts will find Players within the same Role as their own, Scouting Experts will then have a higher probability of finding Players with special abilities.

Probabilities

To help you understand the algorithm behind the Scouting process, you can think about it split into two steps:

  • The first Player found in the Scouting, where the Scout Specific Role (if any) is applied, will always have the Scout Specific Role.
  • For the rest of the Players, the probability will depend only on the Scout Role, according to the tables below.

FAQs

  • Why can a Scout only find Players from the same Role?

After many different simulations, we found this way the Player is best optimized. We want the Player to be dependent on the Scout Knowledge, but at the same time we want you to be able to discover Players for all the Specific Roles. Finding Players from different Roles would not be optimal for users.

Players will have potential abilities (maximum values for each ability) and also current abilities (values at a specific period of time). Initial current values when the Player is found will be highly linked to the specific Role. An RW, for example, can have dribbling as his best ability, and a ST usually will be better in finishing than in dribbling.

  • Is there any negative impact from this choice?

The main issue could be that a user can think that more Scoutings will be needed to fill a whole squad. However, although it is true, as we already shared last week, the marketplace will be the perfect place to do transfers and trade Players.

  • Is there any logic behind these values?

Although users will decide which are the most valued Specific Roles, we tried to balance the output depending on common team formations. For example, a team will need, at the least, to have half of the defenders as CBs, because if a team plays with 3 defenders, usually all would be CBs. If a team plays with 4 defenders, 2 will be CBs, and if a team plays with 5 defenders, 3 will be CBs. There are few teams that play with 3 defenders and only 1 CB.

  • How will Scout improvements impact the Specific Role probabilities?

There will be no impact; Scouting probabilities will depend only on Scout Role and Specific Roles.

The way to implement Specific Roles, as explained above, is the optimal path for users to get the most valuable team possible.

Over the next few days, we’ll share more details about the Scouting process, so you’ll be ready to start building your team!
